Beginning of Work Clothes

While at Walmart the other day, I looked around the mens section and looky what I found.
Work pants! And plain tshirts!
I really don't even care that I got lots of mens clothing because they will be more comfortable working in the field. Good for me! I honestly don't care what I'll look like in these baggy pants...cats won't judge. And the other interns will most likely be looking the same.

I also got two of these jackets, because they will save my winter jacket from getting ruined and they'll keep me nice and toasty for the morning feedings/cleaning.

Just a little update on my packing situation :D

Packing thoughts

So I have a dilemma. At the internship, I'll be working a ton with bleach and blood and all sorts of nasty things so I need to pack clothes I don't care about ruining forever. But I don't have too many of those...I keep the clothes I have because I like them and they mean something to me.

For example, I have plenty of big tshirts that are old and I could ruin but I have had them for so long because they are from my high school or from my college. When I go through my wardrobe and clean out items I don't need, I always seem to leave those alone. I may not wear them a lot, but they have sentimental value.

So I just have an issue with what I need to pack.

I'll go to Goodwill soon and see what they have for tshirts and jeans so I don't have to fly to Texas and then go shopping. I'd much rather get everything here before I depart so I won't stress. I'm sure I'll be doing enough of that anyway.

Maybe next week I'll do some trial packs to see if I can fit everything in my suitcase. I'd rather not bring two if I can help it.

First Post- What I'm Doing

Hello everyone!

I have recently been accepted into the internship program at The Center for Animal Research and Education (C.A.R.E) in Bridgeport, TX! I decided to start this blog to update my friends and family, and basically anyone who wants to learn about what I'm doing there.

This internship is a little different than other internships in that I'll be working with tigers, lions, cougars, etc. Seems unreal, right? Well I graduated from the University of Maine in Orono with a bachelors degree in Wildlife Ecology so it isn't so weird for me.

Working with the big cats has always been a dream, so getting the opportunity to move to Texas from January to May is a huge deal for me.

Please feel free to join me on my journey from Boston to Bridgeport! Okay, technically I'm from Weymouth, but it's near Boston and there was the alliteration that I just couldn't pass up. And my best friend really liked the name, so I decided to run with it. Technically I'm flying from Logan airport so it really will be from Boston.

I'll be taking loads of pictures while I'm down there and describing what I'll be doing, hopefully on a weekly basis. I just learned the internet is a little spotty there so let's hope for the best! *crosses fingers*
